Ed Swan has spent over 30 years as a visual artist in addition to his career in investment management. Over the years, Ed has worked with large paper mache objects and stained glass windows & doors, but the primary focus of his work has been in designing and building furniture. His long standing focus is on making tables and benches out of beautifully grained and colored woods. He is largely self taught, but has taken courses at the North Bennett Street School in Boston.
Ed works two ways. First, he designs and builds objects that inspire him. These pieces are generally located either in his studio or one of his homes and available for purchase by contacting the artist. Second, he works with a limited number of clients/collectors to design pieces specifically for their needs. His one requirement is that both the client and he are inspired by the design. He feels strongly that "life is too short to build something into which you can not pour your soul."
